#4. P&Co – A Masterclass in Branding.

Having received an email from P&Co detailing the extra 15% discount they were offering on their already deeply discounted sale, I seized an opportunity that does not come around too often; the founders of the Birmingham-based lifestyle brand, Mr Clark & Mr Timms, do not tend to stray too far from their already modest pricing. I managed to pick up a handful of bits that I had been eyeing up for a while – their Denim & Coffee enamel mug, the Anderson notebook set, and the Unlovable Heartbreaker MC t-shirt from their iconic collaboration with model, Ricki Hall.

I have been a huge fan of the creative consistency and aesthetic idiosyncrasy of P&CO since the day I purchased their Skull & Arrows t-shirt, almost two years ago. In that time, the brand has grown exponentially, through a faultless fusion of fitting figureheads, namely Josh Beech and the aforementioned Ricki Hall, superior fabrics and distinctive design. Their resulting achievement? A true redefining and refashioning of the term ‘lifestyle brand’.

The word ‘lifestyle’ gets thrown around and fixed upon all manner of mediocre brands, but Mr Clark and Mr Timms have used a consistent, sharp look to their advantage; with handcrafted lettering, motifs that span collections, and photography that is varied in setting yet constant in mood, the brand has cultivated its own sense of culture. There is, essentially, a P&Co feel, which can be mingled with all forms of creative outlet, as evident in their expansion to leather goods and home accessories. The potential of this brand is without limit; a more progressive dabble into homeware could be the diving-board for a plunge into interior design.

I can safely say that I am very much excited to see what comes from this brand in the future.
